The area around Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, has long been important in political and cultural terms. The best proof for that are numerous castles that still stand there. On this excursion we will discover the beauties of two castler: Luznitsa and Novi Dvori.
Luznitsa is a beautiful Baroque mansion,
which today is a spiritual and educational center belonging to the Sisters of
Mercy. Luznitsa is an oasis of peace and beauty and by walking in a local park
you have a sense of peace. After overseeing Luznitsa castle we will set off to
Novi Dvori castle - the former estate of Ban Jelacic, the most famous Croatian
Ban. We will walk along the park and we will examine the chapel of St. Josip and
the family tomb of Jelacic in which the Ban was buried. Unlike Luznitsa which
has marvellous front, we will see a completely different scene - a forgotten
empty castle from the past that still draws visitor’s attention.
